Most of the songs on this album where recorded in the 80's and released as a picture disk, straight from the soul of a confident woman whose songs touch on everything from her power over men (The Witch in Me; Icy Hot; Canned Heat) to mourning the loss of one (Your Love; Leaves Still Fall), from talking to God (How Can I Say No?) to admiring or poking fun at the opposite sex (With Those eyes; Tough Guys). Some are 80's driving rock; some catch Alexis in a tender moment. The 12' picture disk 'The Witch in Me' is listed in a book published in 1990, 'Picture Discs of the World* Price Guide *International Reference Book for Picture Records: 1923-1989' by Joe Lindsay that sells online now for up to $120 for this collector's book. As an artist, who performed most of her live shows in the 80's from Detroit to Las Vegas, Alexis shared stages with such noteworthy acts as the amazing Pointer Sisters, Bo Didley, The Ink Spots, The Coasters, The Drifters, The Shirelles, Lou Christie, The Original Juniors as well as Dallas greats: Vince Vance and the Valiants, Refugee, Jesse Lopez, Nemra, The Tokyo Dogs, Little Anthony, Johnny D & the Rocket 88's, and Backstreet. Her voice has been compared to such artists as Olivia Newton-John and Jewel but her songs were a bit ahead of their time in brazen, female domination. This new release includes a couple of live recordings and a new composition, Leaves Still Fall. Here's hoping you enjoy.
