Damu the Fudgemunk covers almost every role in hip-hop music. He's the DJ for Panacea, co-founder and producer of critically acclaimed rap group y Society, picks up the mic on his most recent solo release, Supply For Demand, and he's the co-owner of his very own label, Redefinition Records. It was his production work off the y Society debut LP, Travel At Your Own Pace, that really made people, including his peers, sit-up and take notice. "Very refreshing to hear a young cat with that much soul. Exactly what's been missing from the game... soul." Marley Marl. Producers or diggers might call Damu a "purist" as he ONLY samples from his vast collection of vinyl, however there is much more to his production method than what he finds on wax. Thanks to a strong understanding of pitch, key and musical theory, Damu is able to alter and combine sounds like nobody else. Part of his signature sound comes from his complex layering of multiple samples, which he chops and composes on his MPC2000 sampler. There's much more to his method than simply finding some sounds and constructing a sonic collage, however. Damu is also a producer known for his ability to play several different instruments, drums, bass, keys, and vibraphones for starters, so don't expect everything you hear to have it's origins on vinyl. The phrase has been rewritten, "a new jack of all trades, and a master of everything"! DWG has teamed up with Redefinition Records for this release, on another vinyl reanimation expedition. The title track "When Winter Comes" was recorded with Buff1 (A-Side Worldwide) back in 2009, but was never finished as the engineer wiped the vocal track. Due to the popularity of the unmixed version available as a lo-fi MP3, and general dopeness of the track, DWG had the duo jump back into the lab to re-record this track, including a new joint called "Truly Get Yours". This release wouldn't have happened without the support and rhyme skills of Buff1, who took time out of the release schedule for his new album, Crown Royale, to jump into the studio. DWG are proud to present their 5th vinyl 7" single and thank everyone for their continued support!
