Death By Salt 3: Songs of Everlasting Joy / Various on LP

Sing songs of praise: Death By Salt is back! Behold! You now hold in your hands Death by Salt Vol. 3, the first compilation of Salt Lake City bands to be produced on vinyl in several decades, and the third installment in SaltLakeUnderGround's Death By Salt compilation series. May this record shine as a light to all the world! Our previous hymnal collections DBS Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, documented all genres from Utah's white-hot music scene and featured 59 and 42 artists respectively. Band testimonials and teachings were included in smartly packaged box sets designed by Brother Trent Call and Brother Shon Taylor. Compilation dispensation was limited to a single run of 1,000. In the summer of 2007, SLUG teamed up with local label Octopus Records to study and pray about the DBS Vol. 3 submissions. Together, with the guidance of the Holy Ghost, we received word that change was more than desirable. Instead of producing mixed-genre single releases every two years, the DBS series will now be released quarterly, as genre-specific personal truths. The supplication for submissions will also now be genre-specific. This will streamline every collection and allow an in-depth representation of each Ward in the Stake and it's artists, from goth to folk to Swedish bell choir. Accordingly, DBS Vol. 3 is a righteous rock record. The divine art of DBS Vol. 3 was munificently designed by Brother Paul Butterfield and Brother Dave Styer, and revolves around the theme of early Mormon resistance and rebellion against the federal government during Utah's nascent statehood. It celebrates the early courage of our Territory's leaders, touching on the irony of our ancestors' non-conformity 100 years before Utah became one of the most anally conservative states in the nation. On the following pages you will read full interview passages and view photographs of 10 Salt Lake bands worthy enough to be featured on DBS Vol. 3. I urge you all to read one interview with your family each night so that together, you may experience the deep understanding and appreciation the lord has for his children through song. DBS Vol. 3 is limited to 1000 vinyl copies. Included in your purchase of this product is a dropcard featuring downloadable digital versions of the music and a small cross-selection of our favorite scriptures.
