Though he didn't even make it to the age of 30, the Jamaican native was an international superstar during the late '50s calypso craze, with residencies at nightclubs from Las Vegas to Manhattan to Miami. His image graced the pages of Life magazine and he appeared on The Perry Como Show and in several feature films. Harry Belafonte even had a major hit with his interpretation of "Shake Shake Sonora," included here.
